- Your account. You can read messages without an account. Some features, such as saved stations and a longer search history, need a free account. If you create an account, we store your email address, the date you joined and last signed in, your plan and whether you asked for Pro, the stations and areas you save, and for each passkey you add its public key, a name such as “Safari on macOS” and when it was added and last used. We use your email address only to send sign-in links and messages about your account. Sign-in links are stored only as a fingerprint (hash) and expire after 20 minutes; unused ones are removed after a day. You can delete your account on the account page at any time: everything above is removed straight away.
- App launch sign-up. If you ask to be told when the apps are ready, we store your email address and the apps you picked, and use them only for that one announcement. Ask us to delete it at any time.
- Usage statistics. We count page views and a few clicks with PostHog (EU servers), without cookies. Visitors are told apart by a hash of IP address and browser that changes every day and cannot be traced back; the IP address itself is not stored. With each page view we record the country (as reported by our network provider, Cloudflare) and the type of browser, operating system and device.
- Error reports. When a page or our server runs into an error, the error message and the technical trace of where it happened are sent to PostHog so we can fix it, with the page address but no query, no form contents and no account details.
- Server logs. To keep the service secure and working, our server records standard access logs: the time, the page requested, the response, the referring page, the browser's user agent and your IP address. They are deleted automatically after 30 days, unless we need a specific entry to investigate an attack or abuse. They are not used for statistics or to identify visitors.
- Cloudflare. All traffic to this site passes through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and delivers it securely. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details for that purpose, under its own privacy policy. Email to our addresses is also forwarded through Cloudflare.
- Hosting. The site runs on a server at Hetzner Online in Germany.
- Email. Sign-in links are sent through Resend, which receives your email address and the message only to deliver it, under its own privacy policy.
- Your rights. You can ask what we hold about you and have it deleted: write to hello@navtex.online.
